Bonnie from Australia and Rhodri from Wales travelled from their current home in Hong Kong for their stunning country house wedding in Rhodri’s homeland. Our freezing February must have been a bit of a shock to the many guests who came with them from warmer climes! This was a stunning wedding with some real genius personal touches – look out for a giraffe, a penguin, and some utterly unique table favours!
Vince had undergone shoulder surgery just a few weeks before this wedding, so we were kindly joined by our good friend and favourite wedding photographer Tom Arber to make sure we could keep up the pace if Vince’s arm started to lag! Amongst much other gorgeousness throughout the day and evening, Tom took all the front-view images of the ceremony.
One of the ceremony readings was given by an 8-year-old flower girl. She was absolutely breathtaking, reading with more confidence and expression than I’ve heard from many a nervous adult reader! This was one of my favourite moments of the day.
A couple of the adults of the bridal party had the job of taking polaroids of guests throughout the day. These were gradually added in to the decor of the rooms and gave people a good laugh. 🙂
While the families braved the outdoors for some group photos, a Welsh Male Voice Choir entertained the guests.
They had even learned a special request… 🙂
The guests were directed into this stunner of a dining room by Escort Cards picturing Bonnie and Rhodri’s grandparents. Each table represented one set of grandparents – an idea I really really loved! The old photographs looked absolutely beautiful standing on the tables amongst the all white blooms.
Now then. Every guest had a little booklet entitled The Guests tucked into their napkin. You must have a little read of the contents…a hilarious ‘cryptic clue’ description of each and every person at the wedding! Talk about ice-breakers – you could not fail to get conversation flowing amongst guests with this! And the amount of time and love that has clearly gone into it is just inspiring.
I left the room for a moment for my macro lens so I could capture THIS incredible detail…
…and actually laughed out loud when I came back and saw that no one had managed to sit down for how engrossed they were in these books! Serious stroke of genius there.
I’m really loving single tier wedding cakes at the moment and this is perfection…classic, elegant, lace-wrapped, practical in shape, with a penguin. 😉 Love it!
The dancing and socialising went on into the night. I love this shot of Rhodri and his family watching the slideshow of images from the day that we can show during an evening reception. Yes, I’m taking pictures of people looking at pictures…but it does make for great pictures!!
It was an honour to be with these families and to witness and document their amazing day. All the photos can be seen on the Clients page of our web site. Check it out because there was just too much gorgeousness to fit it all in here! (I didn’t even get started on how Bonnie’s wedding dress is one of my favourites EVER!!)
