We’ve had the pleasure of photographing weddings of several of Mari and Gareth’s friends over recent years, so it was wonderful to again be amongst a group of people we know. We firstly went and spent time with Gareth and his groomsmen on the greens at The Cliff, Gwbert.
Mari was getting ready in an oasis of calm at her family’s home. Mari’s a TV weather presenter, and we joked with her about the forecast, saying we were likely to have four seasons in one day. It proved prophetic.
The ceremony was a packed affair, held in a chapel in the Preseli Mountains of Pembrokeshire.
Following the beautiful musical items, a surprise song was performed by some friends and relatives.
Chapel weddings around here are fairly hectic affairs, where all the village turn out to capture their snap of the couple.
And in this case they even had a crew from the S4C TV channel along who interviewed them as soon as they were out the chapel.
But we love this next picture – because it illustrates that in spite of the maelstrom around them they were still absorbed with one another.
And then the heavens opened… and we rushed to the cars and considered not making the stop we had planned for photos at the foot of the hills…
… but we decided to see what it was like when we got there and thankfully five minutes later it was summer again, with some lovely brooding clouds for dramatic effect.
Then it was off to the reception back at The Cliff Hotel, Gwbert.
In spite of their apprehensive looks, the best men’s speeches were absolute stonkers, as were everyone else’s, including Mari’s sister who included old video footage of Mari as a child having her first go at weather presenting.
By now the sun was setting and we had reached the photographer’s ‘golden hour’ – the time when the warm glows of the setting sun work magic for just about any shot.
It was wonderful to spend the day with Mari & Gareth and their lovely friends and family. All of their photos are now available to view as a slideshow on the Client Gallery page of our web site.
